The fall of 2026 will be a busy and exciting time at MOQ, as our campus undergoes two major improvement projects.
Installation of a tile floor in the Church
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, Mary Our Queen will soon have a beautiful new tile floor in the aisles surrounding our pews. The new tile will closely complement the existing tile and marble in the church, adding beauty and warmth to our sacred space. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, September 14, and is expected to take approximately two weeks.
Effective September 14, please note the following changes:
- Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Hall.
- Adoration will be held in St. Joseph’s Hall.
- Confession will be heard in St. Joseph’s Hall.
- We will not livestream the Sunday 11 am Mass during the construction period.
At a later date, the narthex will also receive custom carpeting, generously provided by the same anonymous donor. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as this work is completed.
Making Room for our growing parish
Our parish is growing, and with that growth comes an increasing need for parking and additional space for our parish community. For several years, we have used the neighboring Comcast property for overflow parking. However, with that property now under contract to become a new neighborhood next year, we are taking steps now to address our long-term parking needs.
As a first step, we will clear a little more than half of our undeveloped campus and install updated drainage and detention measures. Then, through the generosity and partnership of McKinley Homes, their engineers at Planners & Engineers Collaborative, and their contractor, Benchmark, Mary Our Queen will receive donated excess dirt from a related McKinley Homes development. This dirt will be used to create level ground for future parking. The project will also include an additional curb cut onto Crooked Creek Road, providing access to the expanded parking area. Even more exciting, the site plan will preserve space for future campus growth, including a sports field, pavilion, youth cottage—and perhaps even a future rectory.
Of the anticipated $1 million cost of this project, approximately 90% is already covered through donations and concessions. Our parish will fund the remaining 10% from our capital reserves.
Work is expected to begin in September and, weather permitting, may continue for a few months. We are incredibly grateful to the City and the Archdiocese for all their hard work in helping us move quickly during this window of a once-in-a-generation opportunity. The Lord’s hand has also been so evident throughout this entire process.
