The Sacrament of Confirmation confers a permanent (indelible) mark on the soul of the recipient, gifting the recipient with the fullness of God’s seven-fold Gifts, which in turn produce great fruits in the soul of the believer. Through the reception of this sacrament, the individual is made ready to share in the mission of the Church, which is the saving and redemptive mission of Christ Himself, by the evangelization of the whole world.
The Archdiocese of Atlanta has begun a transition process to move all parishes from the practice of receiving this sacrament in the 10th grade to reception of the sacrament in the 6th grade. Every parish is discerning the best transition for their community. Here at Mary Our Queen, the transition will be swift, incorporating all our parish registered students from 6th-10th grade into one confirmation class for the 2026-2027 school year. Please note that individuals must be registered at MOQ to participate in the preparation process and receive this sacrament.
“Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that of Pentecost. This outpouring impresses on the soul an indelible character and produces a growth in the grace of Baptism. It roots the recipient more deeply in divine sonship, binds him more firmly to Christ and to the Church and reinvigorates the gifts of the Holy Spirit in his soul. It gives a special strength to witness to the Christian faith.”
